Hello :)

A bit more about me:

My name is Malik Peace. You most likely know me from YouTube.

I’ve been posting for several years now, and my goal has always been to be useful and help people think more deeply about their lives in a tangible way they can benefit from. My channel is basically my evolving philosophy and notes to self over time, in the hope that others find it valuable.

How I started

Whenever I was 18-19 years old, I was in a rough spot and simply didn’t want to exist anymore. I wasn’t taking care of myself. I wasn’t happy. I was balding on the front of my head. And if you saw me, you’d probably step around me lol

I wasn’t eating right. Sleeping right. I had a double-digit screen time at the bare minimum. Wasn’t working out. And a long list of degeneracy.

And, dramatic or not, I didn’t see a point in moving forward. I saw no point.

Obviously I didn’t (still here). But I want to take some time to explain what helped me.

As I’ve realized that a lot of things I was going through, a LOT of other people feel the same way, they just don’t say anything.

think think think

Thinking is a superpower we’re only given for a period of time, yet most people don’t think about shit.

During this time, when I was struggling I was in college, and it was the first time in my life I had a lot of freedom and free time. A lot of it was wasted, but there were several nights when I found myself sitting alone in silence, just contemplating my life.

And one day, I had a full existential crisis.

I thought about my life and the future. How I was 20 but maybe only had 55 years left. How 1/3 was going to go to sleep so I only had 36 years awake from that point. Then how most of that time is going to go towards things I didn’t care about. And at the time, I was in college even though I didn’t want to be, and just became hopeless about the future.

But then after really marinating in the fact my existence was going to end one day, I realized that time is not only limited but it was ALL I was EVER going to have. And wasting my one chance at life doing something I didn’t like just seemed foolish to me.

Obsession

So I became obsessed with trying to improve my life. I got in shape. Fixed my mental health. Read 20+ books. Consumed months’ worth of self improvement content. Got a girlfriend. etc etc. I was doing all the “healthy” things right yet I still felt like something was missing.

I realized it was because I wasn’t making progress towards anything I cared about yet.

During that point I was in a lot better physical and mental headspace, but my actual fulfillment was still low. I’ve never committed myself to any big and I was completely lost.

Another thinking session later, I asked myself “what do I want out of my life” and now a better question is “what thing(s) that if I didn’t do before I died, would make my life feel like a waste”.

I realized I wanted freedom and to help others. To actually be useful while living a life I can look back at and be proud of.

Of course I was young so I didn’t really know what I was doing exactly. But from everything I’ve learned up to that point, I knew that if I just moved in the direction I wanted to, even if I don’t know every little step by step, it would be unreasonable I wouldn’t get far.

Start

So, my first goal was to make as much money as possible, as most 19 year olds think.

I thought I was going to make 500,000 at the end of 2020 with zero experience with anything lmao. I even wrote it down thinking that would increase the chances.

I quickly came to the realization that I didn’t know what I was talking about, didn’t really care about it, wasn’t good at anything, and overall just trying to “get rich quick” because I thought that would bring my life meaning.

This was the beginning of my YouTube channel and social media. All I knew is that if I was able to build a huge community of like minded people across the most powerful tool ever, the internet, I might have a chance of not only having freedom but also genuinely being useful.

Over time my content has changed a lot. My views have been tweaked. As my channel is basically a giant journal of my thoughts over time shared to thousands of people. I stopped focusing and trying to “get rich quick” or talk about random things I knew nothing about, but rather “what from my experience and knowledge can tangibly help someone” and from there, my channel has gotten a lot larger.

The Grind

It’s easy to write “I did this for 5 years”. I wrote that in 5 seconds lmao. But the actual process of trying to build something especially from the very beginning, is demoralizing.

I remember I would spend months on a video just for it to get only 100 views the first month. I would load up accounts on my iPad to “boost” my video to 30 views, with half the views being me. I try over and over and over again, failing a lot, but keeping “you only lose when you quit” glued to the front of my mind.

Currently

Now my channel has 67K+ subs and several million views at the time of writing this. This is not to brag as honestly it’s crazy to me as well. But I want to be an example for others to continue even whenever things get tough.

And the hardest part about the process was to continue even whenever the actions I was taking felt useless and I had to fight/ignore my own self doubt every single day.

And a strong motivator behind that was the fact that I don’t have forever to do this. To exist. To breathe. To try. And while it’s scary to think about our lives, I feel like the realization that this life is the only one I will ever have has allowed me to face my fears and use every opportunity I have to keep moving forward.

Over time, it’s been my goal to spread this message so others can benefit.

What’s next?

If you’re reading this, I’m still working on my channel. My goal is to continue to grow and reach as many people as possible. I believe the internet is the greatest tool ever invented that’s allowed me to do what I do. And I don’t plan on stopping and sharing my experiences and knowledge as long as it’s useful and beneficial to you.

But that’s a bit about me :)
